The Origin of Nath Panth

The Nath Panth is one of the oldest and most influential yogic traditions of India. Its origins are traced to the divine Adi Nath — Lord Shiva himself — who is considered the first and supreme Nath. From this primordial source, the teachings flowed through a sacred lineage of realized masters known as the Nath Siddhas.

Historically, the tradition took a clear form around the 9th to 11th centuries CE, with the great masters Matsyendranath and his disciple Guru Gorakhnath. Gorakhnath is credited with systematizing the Nath teachings and spreading them across the Indian subcontinent, welcoming all sincere seekers into its fold.
